The DPS Labor Council was formed under the Arizona Fraternal Order of Police Labor Council. The Arizona Labor Council is a unique statewide law enforcement labor union created by the Fraternal Order of Police, Arizona State Lodge, Inc., for the express purpose of addressing law enforcement related labor issues in all respects. The DPS Labor Council is the Local Representative Executive Committee for ALC members who are employees at the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
OBJECTIVES
The Fraternal Order of Police, Arizona Labor Council, Inc., ("FOP/ALC") is dedicated to the betterment of law enforcement personnel through representation of its members in constitutional, labor relations, collective bargaining and other legal matters. The ALC will:
Promote the formation of representative committees for public safety personnel.
Act as the collective bargaining agent for members and representative committees.
Engage in collective activities for the purpose of improving wages, hours, and conditions of employment and advancing the rights and promoting the security of the members.
Receive, manage, invest, expend and otherwise use monies and property to achieve the objectives set forth in the ALC Constitution.
Provide, maintain, manage and operate a central office
Furnish services to all individuals, groups or bodies as required to further the aims and purposes of the F.O.P. Arizona Labor Council ("FOP/ALC").
Unite, represent, defend, and promote the interest of all members.
Cooperate with other organizations interested in promoting the efficiency, professionalism and well being of its members.
The DPS Labor Council is the labor component of F.O.P. Lodge #32 and a bargaining unit affiliate of the Arizona Labor Council. The DPS Labor Council is made up of DPS employees who are ALC members of FOP Lodge 32 and FOP Associate Lodge 32. As a separate and distinct bargaining entity, the FOP/DPS Labor Council will be established as a public safety employee union to provide full service labor representation for both sworn and civilian bargaining units.
Though distinctly separate in mission from the fraternal and social side of the F.O.P., the FOP/DPS Labor Council, nonetheless, affords its members all the benefits of membership, as well as those benefits associated with our affiliation with the F.O.P./Arizona Labor Council (FOP/ALC). Access to all national, state, and local F.O.P. provided benefits, security for you and your family through the superior legal defense plan offered by the FOP/ALC and their professional groups of attorneys are just a few advantages of membership.
Nationwide, through its leadership and network of statewide Labor Councils, the F.O.P. has developed into the most effective police labor organization in the country. From the bottom-up, its elected leaders carry the voices of the more than 300,000 police officer members to Washington D.C. The voice of DPS must also be heard in Washington, and there is no other organization better qualified to represent them.
This is your opportunity to make a positive change. Allow the DSP Labor Council to be your representative, to negotiate and enforce your future contracts. Let us show you we can deliver what you deserve, professional classification representation, which is truly responsive to your needs. The FOP/DPS Labor Council wants to represent you.
